[About the tablet]

The first launched VIA8650 sample tablets have 2 versions: 7 inch and 8 inch. They will run on Android 2.2 with 256M memory, 2.6.32 inner core, resistive touch screens and officially claimed 800MHz CPU. After a test, the 8650 chip proved to be based on ARM9 core. There is a big change on the icons of the UI and lots of custom made software has been set up in the tablet such as video player, picture viewer, file reader and some other daily used ones, so that the tablet users could save a lot time on these stuffs.

Currently, the 720p videos that be supported are only of the AVI form, other forms 720p ones such as RMVB are not supported now. The flash 10 player will not be available until they solved problems before February 15, 2011. But the HTML5 is capable with the online video webs such as QQLive and Tudou. The web browsing speed of VIA8650 is faster than the 8505 but the current chip performs not good enough as RK2818 and TCC8902—so this AVI 8650 tablet will be cheaper. Plus, this VIA chip is still making a lot of heat as the former VIA chips.

[Price]

It is predicted that the price will be a little high in the early days of its selling, but it will not be too much expensive than the VIA8505 tablets. It will hopefully sale well in the tablet market~
